Join The Protest at Brisbane Parliament House: Saturday 1 August, 10.00am
On 31 July 2026, greyhound racing will finish for good in New Zealand. Australia is now one of the last handful of countries that still allow greyhound racing, and with a Tasmanian ban on the way, it is time for the rest of the states to get on board.
Bring your (friendly) greyhounds to a public rally outside Parliament house, calling for an end to greyhound racing in Queensland. We’ll hear from advocates, experts, and concerned Queenslanders as we push for an end to greyhound racing in Queensland, and countrywide.
Last year, 30 greyhounds were killed on Queensland tracks. So far this year, at least 19 greyhounds have died in Queensland after suffering racing injuries, including 8 deaths from The Q. This number includes two on-track deaths, and 17 off-track deaths.
In 2025, gambling companies donated over $54,000 to the major political parties in Queensland. So this is our chance to let the Queensland Parliament know: put greyhounds and Queenslanders first.
This year also marks 99 years of greyhound racing in Australia, and 100 years of greyhound racing in the UK.
Join us as we call for:
- An end to greyhound racing in Queensland
- A plan to re-home all greyhounds to safe, loving homes
- Transform all Queensland tracks into beautiful greenspace and sports fields on public land
- Provide support for workers to transition to new, productive jobs.
